The Chicago Tribune newspaper reports that when he refused, the gunman shot multiple times into the vehicle, hitting Fuentes in the head three times.

Police were investigating the incident as a possible robbery or attempted carjacking, according to KTLA sister station WGN.
The incident comes nearly a week after Christina Grimmie, The Voice US contestant, was shot dead in Florida on 11 June.
Cook County Chief Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the singer had died on Saturday after being taken to hospital in critical condition.
Mr Fuentes was shot on the same block as his performing arts studio for young people, Tras Bambalinas, where he worked and lived, the Tribune said.
Alejandro Fuentes was a contestant on Mexico’s version of “The Voice” in 2011 and there are no indications yet as to what the motive of the shooting was. Since then, he relocated to the USA where he opened up a studio to teach young, aspiring students how to sing, dance, act, and even model.
Friend Miguel Sanchez told the Tribune he could not understand why anyone would want to harm the “one of a kind” musician, who he considered a mentor. If you continue to use this site we will assume that you are happy with it. “I’ve never met anyone as talented as he was in those arenas”.
At this time, the Chicago Police Department does not have any suspects in custody.
