According to local people, the BSF also fired mortar shells, damaging several houses.

“Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing at BSF (Border Security Force) outposts in Pargwal and Kana Chak areas of Jammu district today (Saturday) morning”, a police officer told IANS.

While Krishnagati and Mandi sectors fall in Poonch, Balakote and Pallanwala are in Rajouri and Jammu respectively.

This is the second ceasefire violation by Pakistan in less than 48 hours.

A day after Pakistani troops targeted forward Indian positions along the Line of Control in Jammu region, Rangers resorted to unprovoked small arms fire and mortar shelling at BSF border out posts (BOPs) along the worldwide border in Kanachak and Pargwal areas. Indian firing continued till afternoon intermittently.

There were 18 ceasefire violations along the Indo-Pak border in July in which four persons, including three jawans, were killed and 14 others injured.
