IPhone falls from Number 1 spot to 3rd in China
According to research firm Canalys, the top spot for Q2 2015 goes to Xiaomi Inc., who have bounced back to claim an estimated 15.9 percent of the market share. Huawei was close behind at 15.7 per cent.

Apple captured third sport during the second quarter with a market share of 12.2 percent.
An estimate was not released for the market share owned by Apple, as its full report on the smartphone market in China is not due until late this week. According to Counterpoint Research figures, the Chinese smartphone market declined 2% year on year but increased 4% on the last quarter.
“Competition among major brands has never been so intense”, Jingwen Wang, a Canalys analyst, said in a statement. “Apple and Samsung have both increased their sales activities in the China market”. That compares with 6.8 per cent in the year-earlier period.
Xiaomi is looking to follow Huawei into Europe and the US.
China’s homegrown smartphone maker, Xiaomi has clinched the top spot, once again, as the number one smartphone firm in China.
“Xiaomi has good distribution channels and competitive pricing in its home market of China, enabling it to stay in front of Lenovo”, Oh said.
While Xiaomi has hit Apple’s efforts in China, it’s likely done bigger damage to Samsung’s, thanks to the popularity of the homegrown brand’s ultra-cheap devices and its recently launched Michigan Note Pro phablet, which dramatically undercut Samsung’s pricing for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 4.
Xiaomi has expanded quickly through selling Android phones that are feature packed by low-priced. And this despite reporting strong growth in China in its recent earnings report.
However, Huawei is hot on its heels, growing 48 per cent sequentially, and the fastest growing vendor in the top ten.
Counterpoint said the weak growth was the result of a “muted economic environment, smartphone market saturation and lack of product related catalysts”.
“We would be foolish to change our plans”. It is followed by Huawei, Apple, SAMSUNG ELECT LTD (F) (OTCMKTS:SSNLF), and Vivo.

Meanwhile, Huawei’s seven per cent market share was up from 4.8 per cent year-on-year.
