Romania vs Albania, Euro 2016

If they defeat Albania and France beat Switzerland, Romania could finish above the Swiss depending on goal difference.

France has started their Euro 2016 campaign with the bang against the Romania and then thrashed the Albania in their second game thanks to the two late goals.

Hosts France, who are already through to the last 16, will look to add another feather to their cap and reach the knockout stage full of confidence when they face Switzerland in a Group A Euro 2016 match.

Playing in his homeland for Steaua Bucharest, the 27-year-old could play a big role as Romania look for the win to keep their Euro 2016 hopes alive. The French require only a draw against Switzerland in Lille tonight to secure first place in the group, a situation that perhaps offers only the illusion of effortlessness.

It hasn’t quite happened for the Juventus star in a France shirt at this tournament so far.

Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann, both of whom did not start France’s match against Albania, are expected to be restored to the starting line-up, while Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman are both certain to drop back to the bench. That is, of course, if he’s fit after being said to suffer from “muscle pains” after the draw with Switzerland.

“Had we been more realistic and a bit more lucky, we would have won this game”. If Switzerland are to top their group, one would expect Shaqiri to be among their best, and key, performers. However, with the pressure off to a degree given France’s qualification for the next round of the competition, it’s perhaps the flawless chance for him to showcase the kind of talent that makes him one of the more coveted players in Europe.

Seizing on the Pogba controversy, Switzerland’s official Twitter account wrote on Friday: “Hey France, Pogba’s not your problem”. The four best third-place teams will also go through.

This group is nearly settled as France and Switzerland sit pretty at the number one and two spots.

Pogba should get the chance to redeem himself on the pitch with Deschamps likely to rotate his talented squad once more.
