LeBron James Undecided On Playing In 2016 Olympics?

“I think LeBron wants to be part of it”, Colangelo told SiriusXM. “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and trust that my NBA experience, as well as my worldwide scouting background will contribute to the high successful program Jerry Colangelo (USA Basketball Chairman) and Coach Mike Krzyzewski have built”.

In an interview with Sirius XM National Basketball Association Radio, Colangelo says that he thinks LeBron wants to be a part of the 2016 USA Olympic team. He must go to Las Vegas and test his mettle against the best players in the world. Colangelo seems to think that James is going to play in the Olympics but until we hear official word from him or his people it is anyone’s guess.

But by showing up in Las Vegas for a day, LeBron keeps himself in the mix and in Colangelo’s good graces. Cavaliers Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are expected to attend, Colangelo said, though neither would be ready to play after undergoing surgeries for various injuries during the playoffs that ended their seasons.

The LeBron James Family Foundation has an undisclosed event scheduled for next week in which sources have said he will participate, and sometime this month he is scheduled to travel to China for Nike.

Also mentioned to be interested in an Olympic trip is LA Clippers point guard, Chris Paul. He was cut from last summer’s FIBA World Cup team, and that could still sting a bit. His time with the team has included several roles beyond his current title of VP of Basketball Operations, including Director of Player Personnel, Director of Scouting, and Personnel Scout/Video Coordinator. Howard and Paul have already confirmed their attendance along with other stars like Carmelo Anthony, Paul’s teammate Blake Griffin as well as Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
