Yoga Day events draw crowds from London to Melbourne
Subsequently, on 11th December, 2014, the United Nations declared 21st June as International Yoga Day, which witnessed global participation across several countries a year ago.

Minister St.Ange is calling on the people of Seychelles to join in the celebrations on June 19 and show the world that Seychelles is proud to be part and parcel of this International Day of Yoga (IDY), which is set to promote the instrument of peace, unity, and harmony.
The ministers will be leading various programmes hosted by the government across the country during the mega event.
“Your support and participation previous year, and once again now, redeems our commitment to nurture and promote this ancient discipline and reaffirms yoga as an exemplary manifestation of Vasudhiava Kutumbakam, or the world as one family”, Modi said. While Mr Singh will lead programmes comprising mass yoga events, workshops and seminars in Lucknow, finance minister Arun Jaitley will take the lead role in Mumbai.
Similar events have been planned at all district headquarters in the country in association with prominent Yoga institutions of the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been looking after the arrangements for the upcoming International Yoga Day which falls on June 21, 2016.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said he had not anticipated the “enormous enthusiasm” from across the globe for his call which had led the United Nations to declare June 21 as the International Yoga Day a year ago, asserting that yoga was much more than a physical exercise.
The Indian embassy is organising the 2nd International Day of yoga at Al Gharafa Sports Club Indoor hall on June 21.
Akbaruddin said a huge and diverse turnout is expected at the International Yoga Day gathering at the UN Secretariat Circle, with participants from 100 nationalities having registered for the event so far.
The second event in Shanghai has been aimed at the young college-going fraternity of the Shanghai University of Electricity and Power, with over 300 students participating in a special session. Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu, Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung and Member of Parliament Meenakashi Lekhi will participate in the Yoga demonstrations in Delhi.
