Obama backs Clinton as ‘the most qualified ever’ for job

“That’s why I know Hillary will be so good at it”, he said. “Today I just want to add mine”, Obama said”.

“I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office”, Xinhua quoted Obama as saying in the video posted on Clinton’s Facebook page.

“I’ve seen her determination to give every American a fair shot at opportunity, no matter how tough the fight was”. As many who have endorsed Clinton have done, Warren applauded Sanders’ ability to get young people excited about the election and for injecting important ideas to the primary contest.

“It is absolutely a joy and an honour that President Obama and I, over the years, have gone from fierce competitors to true friends”, Clinton said. “I look forward to meeting with her in the near future” to discuss how to defeat Trump.

A number of Clinton staffers joined Obama’s campaign in 2008.

The endorsement came after Mrs Clinton won enough delagates to secure the nomination earlier this week. “I have seen her toughness”.

“The truth is, I love the work I do”, she said.

Sanders has steadfastly refused to quit the race despite Clinton breaking the nominee threshold on Tuesday that elevates her to the status of presumptive Democratic nominee.

Sanders said, however, that he would stay in the race to compete in the final Democratic primary vote in Washington, DC, on June 14.

Furlong said he expects presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump to spend time in northeastern Wisconsin before the election, and for both campaigns to send high profile supporters on the stump as well.

The Boston Globe’s Annie Linskey, who reported Warren’s endorsement intentions Wednesday, first reported the plans Thursday.

At an evening campaign rally at Washington’s RFK Stadium, Mr Sanders made no mention of Mrs Clinton, of trying to win over the party insiders known as superdelegates or of pressing his case at next month’s Democratic National Convention.
