Zika risk during Olympics is ‘almost zero,’ Brazilian official says
Established Aedes-mosquito population could spread the Zika virus in Europe this summer if infected travellers introduce the virus, researchers said. While Florida’s cases to date have originated through foreign travel, the state urges residents and visitors to protect themselves from mosquitoes.

If the method works correctly, then the mosquitoes would mate with females and pass on a gene that kills the eggs to stop the spread of the carrier.
Earlier this year, the Obama administration requested 1.9 billion dollars in emergency funding.
“There’s nearly zero risk” of Zika spreading during the games, Barros said, appealing to the journalists to take that message back to the public in their home countries.
The Zika virus has put health officials across the globe in a hard position about giving advice to couples wanting to start a family.

The state warns that mosquitoes can breed in as little as a teaspoon or bottle cap of water.
