Yelchin was preparing to meet friends for a rehearsal and momentarily got out of his vehicle at his San Fernando Valley home, according to police.

Co-stars, friends and fans added their voices on Monday to a chorus of tributes from Hollywood for “Star Trek” actor Anton Yelchin, after he was killed in a freak accident. Friends found him dead by the auto. “The company is in contact with the authorities and is conducting a thorough investigation”.
“FCA US extends its most honest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Yelchin”, FCA said in a statement.
Fiat has issued a recall due to the risk that drivers could exit the vehicle without it remaining in park.
Milla Jovovich, who acted opposite Yelchin in 2014 Shakespeare big-screen adaptation “Cymbeline”, described him as her “brother” and said she and her family were “destroyed” by his death.
The death of Yelchin, 27, on Saturday is still under investigation by the Los Angeles Police, but the department confirmed Monday that Yelchin’s auto was a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Zaldana took to Twitter on Monday, June 20, 2016, to pour her heart out over the demise of the 27-year-old actor.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigated Fiat Chrysler vehicles in February after drivers complained about vehicles rolling away while in park. The company also offered condolences to Yelchin’s family.
Fiat Chrysler reportedly did not yet have a fix for the recall issue.

Yelchin’s friends reportedly grew concerned after he didn’t show up to rehearsal, and found him dead in his driveway at about 1 A.M. His official cause of death was blunt traumatic asphyxia from his auto, which had somehow rolled onto him and pinned him against his brick mailbox.
His Star Trek co-stars, including Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto, tweeted as news of his death broke, with John Cho – who plays Sulu – saying Yelchin’s passing had left him “in ruins”. Officer Jane Kim says the investigation will look into whether the actor’s vehicle was in gear or in park at the time of the accident.
