Instagram says it has 500 million monthly users
Instagram said users shared on average more than 95 million photos and videos every day, with posts garnering 4.2 billion “likes” each day. Instagram hit 400 million users in September. That could point to users moving rapid sharing to Snapchat, or being more cautious about blowing up their friends’ Insta feeds.

More than four-fifths of Instagram users are outside of the United States, the company says, with monthly users more than doubling in size in the past two years alone.

The Facebook stock price today (Tuesday) is up 1.45% in intraday trading after TechCrunch reported Instagram now has 500 million monthly active users (MAUs). This is a natural extension given the rising number of Instagram-based stores being opened on the platform.
Meanwhile, the time may have come for Facebook to consider utilizing Instagram as a source of revenue.

With the benefit of hindsight, it’s easy to say Facebook’s Instagram acquisition made sense.

And you could be right, as the photograph-sharing app is quickly becoming one of the most popular social media sites. The very controversial change has frustrated many users who prefer the old chronological layout, drawing accusations of Instagram having ulterior motives for the move. But he warned that the deceleration of growth in the US, which represents “the most mature and robust” market from an advertising perspective, could weigh on Instagram’s long-term growth potential and stop it from achieving the same scale as Facebook.
