Israel demolishes home of Palestinian who killed US tourist

A Palestinian teenager returning from a night out with his family at a local swimming pool was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers early Tuesday morning in what the Israeli military has now said appears to have been a mistake.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa and the mayor of the nearby village of Beit Ur al-Tahta identified the bystander who was killed as Mahmoud Badran.

Israeli troops mistakenly killed a Palestinian bystander on Tuesday while responding with gunfire to a petrol bomb and rock attack on Israeli vehicles in the occupied West Bank, the military said.

Mahmoud was left to bleed to death on the ground and was covered with a white cover, two others were injured and two others arrested at the scene.

The military said that at around 1am firebombs and rocks had been thrown and oil spilled on to the busy Route 443 between Jerusalem and Modi’in.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, four Palestinians were wounded by Israeli fire, three of them seriously.

Over the past eight months, Palestinian attacks have killed 32 Israelis and two visiting US citizens. It said Israeli forces tried to protect other vehicles and fired toward suspects.

On Monday a young Palestinian man said to be suffering from Down’s syndrome was buried.

An army spokeswoman said the Palestinian carried out the March 8 seafront knife attacks which killed 29-year-old Texan Taylor Allen Force and wounded at least 10 Israelis as US Vice President Joe Biden arrived for a visit.

Israel says it carries out housing demolitions to deter future attacks.

A Palestinian official says a 14-year-old Palestinian boy has been shot dead by Israeli troops.

The most recent spate of negotiations led by the United States collapsed in April 2014.
