Mariners vs Tigers Tuesday in Detroit – James Paxton, who has three quality starts in four starts this year, will be on the mound for the Seattle Mariners when the face Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.

With one out in the eighth, Victor Martinez singled to left and went to third on a double to center by Nick Castellanos. “It seems odd to say when you score seven runs, but we know we left a lot out there”, Seattle manager Scott Servais said.
Mariners: LHP James Paxton (1-2, 2.86 ERA) starts the second game of the four-game series. He walked three (one intentionally) and struck out five. Karns then hit Ian Kinsler with a 1-2 pitch, which loaded the bases with no outs.
Kyle Seager led off with his 14th home run, Marte had an RBI single and Seth Smith lined a two-run single to right. That’s his longest streak since he hit safely in 13 straight games in August 2013 while with the Braves.
Miguel Cabrera also hit a home run in the game, a home run that cleared the brick wall in center field and bounced outside of Comerica Park.
Upton’s first blast came in the seventh, earning the hosts two runs which secured a 7-6 lead, but Leonys Martin’s RBI in the eighth forced extra innings. He struck out five and walked one. “I think the walk-off, he should feel very good about himself”. Ketel Marte led off the third with a double and went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Norichika Aoki. But Verlander ended the inning by fanning Leonys Martin and Seth Smith, the latter after looking at an 80 miles per hour curveball.
“There’s a lot of different ways to win”, Servais said. “I was trying to attack these guys and be really aggressive”. “Obviously their guy was cruising pretty good, and we put some tough at-bats on him late in the game and were able to scratch and claw our way back”. Even worse, in that time, the Rangers became the hottest team in baseball, going 19-5, including winning five of six against Seattle and going up 9½ games in the AL West standings.

Joaquin Benoit worked a one-two-three eighth but, asked to go more than one inning for the first time, had to scramble out of a jam in the ninth. Cano flied to left, and Cruz grounded into a double play.
