However, Deadline reported on June 20 that Rapace would indeed be returning for Covenant, and is scheduled for one week of shooting in New Zealand.

Fans of the Alien movies will know that, way back in the 1970s, it was the unique art and design skills of Swiss artist HR Giger that made the title creature look so unforgettably terrifying.
The sequel to 2012’s momentous Prometheus, Alien: Covenant marks the return of Michael Fassbender’s David and Rapace’s Shaw, the only two survivors of the previous film’s events.
The original “Alien”, starring Sigourney Weaver, was followed by three sequels in 1986, 1992 and 1997.
Alternatively, it could just be a cruel trick to throw us off the scent; Scott might have some radically different alien design in store.
No official word has appeared about her involvement and even if it turns out to be true there’s no guarantee that she’ll be a major part of the plot.
Nevertheless, I’m beyond fascinated to see how McBride fits into the overall Alien: Covenant picture, and he’s surrounded by a promising cast that includes Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, and Amy Seimetz.
The info is apparently being kept under wraps, so we may have to wait until the film comes out before we find out the extent of her role. The synopsis deals with the crew of the Covenant, who arrive on what they think is an uncharted planet and discover Fassbender’s android David as its sole inhabitant.

Scott, 78, is directing from a script by Jack Paglen, Michael Green and John Logan and “Alien: Covenant” is scheduled for release in August 2017.
