Amy Schumer, Sen. Schumer call for more gun control
The star of the hit film “Trainwreck” is teaming up with Chuck Schumer – the Democratic senator from New York and a second cousin once removed – to step up the push for new control legislation, MSNBC reported.

Amy Schumer broke her funny-girl persona Monday, becoming teary-eyed as she vowed to fight for tougher gun laws in the US after a deadly shooting broke out in a Louisiana movie theater that was playing her summer blockbuster.
The Schumers mentioned other American mass shootings in recent months, including the racially motivated June attack on a Charleston church that resulted in nine deaths.
A gunman opened fire while the film played at a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater on July 23, killing two young women before taking his own life.
“These are my first public comments on the issue of gun violence – I can promise you this: they will not be my last”, Amy Schumer said, according to a statement from the Senator’s office.
The director of the movie Trainwreck said the screening shooting “devastates me”.
The proposed legislation sets out to reward states that submit information to a background-check system and penalise those states that do not comply.
