Gas prices tumble around Ohio as summer starts to wind down

Gas prices in the Inland Empire experienced the largest daily decrease since November. 2, 2012 between Friday and Saturday, according to AAA.

The average retail gas price in Maine was $2.65 per gallon on Sunday.

According to the user-submitted reports on GasBuddy.com Monday, motorists in Butts County could find gas for $2.43 per gallon.

That’s according to the latest weekly survey released on Monday by AAA Northeast, which found self-serve regular to be averaging $2.58 per gallon.

The national average price is 84.5 cents cheaper than a year ago and 11.6 cents less per gallon than a month ago.

Crude oil prices are tumbling and that can only mean good news at the pump for drivers.

Oil prices fell sharply in July for the second year in a row on concerns of oversupply.

If Americans feel gas prices will be $3 or lower, they’re more inclined to buy bigger, less fuel-efficient vehicles, he said.

Detroiter Jerisha Fraizer, 24, said gas prices in recent months have put a dent in her pocketbook. That was down 16.4 cents from last month and down 89.9 cents from a year ago. The $2.65 average is the lowest for this time of year since 2009.

The most common price in the country is $2.499, down from $3.399 a year ago.

Analysts for the company said with summer road trips wrapping up, demand for gas will slip this fall. Those include tailing off of demand as the summer driving season ends and the switch back to cheaper winter fuel blends.

The U.S. average was $2.69 a gallon this week, compared with $2.73 in Iowa, data from the Iowa Department of Agriculture shows.

The global oil market touched multi-month lows this week in reaction to signals that the market is likely to remain oversupplied in the near term, which is expected to keep downward pressure on prices.

In Alabama, including this station near Montgomery, gasoline prices are below the national average, in part, because of low fuel taxes.
