Cavaliers invite Bernie Kosar to ride in victory parade

The Cavs have invited Bernie Kosar to their championship parade set for downtown Cleveland on Wednesday, the former Browns quarterback told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

Kosar spent his first nine years with the Browns after being taken first overall in the 1985 supplemental draft.

In 1986 and 1987, he led Cleveland to back-to-back AFC title games, where they famously lost heartbreakers to the Denver Broncos both times.

Kosar played for the Cowboys and Dolphins after being released by the Browns in 1993. He ranks third all-time in passing yards among Browns QBs, and fourth in passing touchdowns.

As northeast OH celebrates the end of the “Cleveland Curse” with Sunday’s National Basketball Association championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ win over the Golden State Warriors Sunday night, American Kenda Rubber Ind. president Jimmy Yang couldn’t be happier. Cleveland is the first team in the NBA Finals to come back from that far down.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on East Sixth Street near Huron Road near the Quicken Loans Arena, city officials said. This victory parade will feature more than 60 units, including floats, the OSU marching band, specialty vehicles and the NBA Champions themselves holding the Larry O’Brien trophy. In fact, more than 20,000 Cavs fans met the team just as they arrived at the airport.

While Cleveland hosts other parades like a popular one on St. Patrick’s Day, there hasn’t been a sports parade of this magnitude since 1995, when the Indians were honored for their first appearance in the World Series since 1954.
