Southampton’s Victor Wanyama Set for Tottenham Hotspur After Completing Medical

Victor Wanyama has bid farewell to Southampton after passing a medical atTottenham.

The Southampton midfielder had his check on Monday and is expected to be announced as a Spurs player imminently.

Wanyama is eager to leave Southampton, who have farewelled manager Ronald Koeman to Everton, on good terms and paid tribute to the club’s supporters.

Wanyama would also become Tottenham’s first signing of the summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for next season’s Premier League title and competing in the Champions League.

The move would reunite Wanyama with his former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham emerged as the front-runners for his signature with the Mirror claiming that the Kenyan worldwide rejected the advances of champions Leicester in favour of a move to White Hart Lane.

More significant though was Tottenham’s league placing last season.

The Kenyan, who has only one year remaining on his contract at St Mary’s, has made 85 league appearances for the south coast club, scoring four goals. For Tottenham it is the first reward, potentially of several, for their top four placing.
