Barack Obama denounces Senate failure to act on gun measures
Kim Kardashian on Tuesday slammed the Senate for failing to pass gun control measures following last week’s mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. A round of votes Monday blocked Republican and Democratic proposals to impede gun sales to terror suspects and expand background checks. He supports her effort, and said it includes some provisions he has pushed.

A Democrat-backed proposal giving the government authority to deny the purchase of a firearm if there is “reasonable belief” that it would be used for terrorism.
“It is incomprehensible as to why Republicans would oppose them”, he tweeted.
In addition, the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be notified if someone who has been on the broader terrorist watch list in the past five years buys a gun. Press secretary Josh Earnest on Tuesday said administration attorneys were looking at the proposal, but it’s “too early to say at this point” whether President Obama will support it. The group says their proposal offers a common sense solution to preventing terrorists from buying guns.
“He will not be dictated to”, one lawmaker said about McConnell being pressured by the NRA.
Hoping to convince fellow Republicans and gun rights advocates, Graham, who noted that he owns an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, said he wasn’t bothered by the inconvenience of “retroactive due process” for people mistakenly on the list due to the far greater interest of national security.
“So sad! The senate voted against background checks being needed to buy guns”.
The New Hampshire Republican Kelly Ayotte emphasized that the legislation protects Americans’ due-process rights, a major concern among Republicans who voted against a Democratic bill restricting sales on Monday.
“What am I going to tell the community of Orlando?” he asked. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina; and Sen. The Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine suggested gun victims would be waiting “forever” if Democrats and Republicans were to wait for their ideal bills to be passed.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who is often a vocal proponent of gun control initiatives, told reporters that the proposed amendment is “a step in the right direction”, but needs to be tweaked.
“If the objective is no-fly, no-buy, we have accomplished that goal”, said the ME senator.

We know there will be no federal ban on assault weapons while Republicans control Congress, but finding a way to keep these weapons out of the hands of suspected terrorists is something on which everyone should be able to agree.
