Shanghai emerging frontrunner for Tesla’s China production

While Reuters said the South Korean auto did not offer any details, the report noted that Hyundai Motor and affiliate Kia Motors late a year ago agreed to buy a 23.3 percent stake in Hyundai Capital from GE for 703 billion won ($610.15 million). Earlier the firm had a rating of “Outperform ” on the company shares. Following the transaction, the director now directly owns 151,865 shares of the company’s stock, valued at $34,073,950.05.

For foreign companies keen on capturing a sizeable chunk of the Chinese vehicle market while avoiding a 25% import tax, hooking up with a local company is a must.

All of this comes on the heels of the news out of Tesla Motors that Model 3 demand has been enormous. Now shares have been rated as “Buy” from 3 Analysts. Finally, Ancora Inverness LLC increased its position in shares of Tesla Motors by 21.1% in the first quarter. Median price target value has been calculated at $6. Analyst’s mean target price for Rio Tinto plc (NYSE:RIO) is $32.06 while analysts mean recommendation is 2.00.

Foreign automakers seeking to set up manufacturing plants in China have to do so through joint ventures in which they can own up to 50 per cent. Recently, China has become a place where nearly all the automakers are in a race to build electric vehicles to meet stringent emission rules and to dominate future electric vehicle market. The Company has delivered over 107,000 Model S vehicles across the world. It also produces and sells stationary energy storage products for use in homes, commercial sites and utilities.
