This led to a number of users turning their game consoles into moderately powerful Linux machines, and some users even connected multiple PlayStation 3 consoles into their own homebrewed, relatively low-cost computing clusters.

About 10 million console owners in the U.S. are eligible to submit a claim form to receive the cash payment. However, it is still unclear when the Sony PlayStation 4 Neo or PS4.5 will be introduced, although recent rumors suggest that the console will still appear in this year. These lawsuits were dismissed one after another by the beginning of December, 2011, because they failed to show how Sony would be liable. On top of the aforementioned payout, the deal also provides up to $2.25 million in attorneys’ fees for the lawyers who brought suit. The home gaming console will allegedly be created to pounce on 4K gaming and virtual reality support for the forthcoming PlayStation VR, and it’s reported will become available this November. This file applies clean 3.55 software and deletes all users, data, settings, and any other files found on the console.

Further, Sony will also pay $9 Dollars to those who can prove they knew about, or meant to use the PS3’s Linux functionality in that period.
