The former Republican presidential candidate says he’s chose to run for re-election to his Florida U-S Senate seat after weeks of denials. But after much thought and prayer, together we chose to continue with public service; to continue down the path that provides the opportunity to make a positive difference at this critical and uncertain time for our nation.

“There is [sic] a lot of reasons”. “And, look, there’s no secret of the fact that I’ve been frustrated with the way things work, but I am fully committed to coming back here and doing the best I can within the Senate as it is, not as I wish it were”.
Even Ted Cruz – who quarreled with Rubio frequently on the presidential debate stage – was pleased with the announcement.
While Florida’s race could play a key role in determining control of the U.S. Senate, earlier polls repeatedly indicated that voters knew little about Murphy, Grayson and Republican candidates for the seat. It’s unclear what actions Rubio will pursue to prevent further massacres once in the Senate – on Monday, he voted against four gun control bills, two each from Republican and Democratic sponsors.
Under pressure from Republican colleagues concerned they would lose his seat – and potentially, the Senate majority – Rubio confirmed his decision in a statement Wednesday.
“Because then you would have somebody running that is not a sitting Senator”, said Zelden.
The decision was a remarkable turnaround for a politician who had never really expressed a passion for the job. Having Rubio run, he is the incumbent; that’s the strength of the matter.
Rubio will face Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy, who is now a US congressman.
Murphy’s primary opponent, Cong. “The party of Alan Grayson (and Bernie Sanders) is alive and well in Florida”.
President Barack Obama, a Democrat, took Florida by just a one percentage-point margin in 2012 over Republican Mitt Romney.
Rep. Ron Desantis and Florida’s lieutenant governor immediately dropped out of the race. However, in the interim, I have reassessed my own view as to whether Rubio would up to cleaning up messes that would inevitably be made by Hillary or Trump, particularly the latter.

Rubio’s Republican primary rival Carlos Beruff was in Panama City Wednesday and although he was there to speak to residents about their concerns, Rubio’s name was the center of discussion.
