What will those Independence Day aliens blow up next?
In the past, it has provided for sponsorships from Fiat, for movies like the Godzilla remake, or Dodge, which has its muscle cars in the Fast and Furious films. Hopefully Bad Boys 3 will become a reality very soon but his involvement in Resurgence would have been brilliant.

What about you? Do you plan on watching Independence Day: Resurgence?
Having mostly appeared in off-beat, independent features up until now, like Melancholia and Nymphomaniac, the 44-year-old star found herself startled by the pace set by director Roland Emmerich on Independence Day.
Some familiar faces from the original movie have returned for the sequel, which is titled Independence Day: Resurgence, including Dr. Brackish Okun (played by Brent Spiner). It has remained as popular for the past two decades as it was on release. Now an integral part of Earth’s defence system, the gifted pilot follows in his famed father’s footsteps in safeguarding the human race from future alien attacks.
There’s no spoiler alert necessary: The aliens will be beaten and humanity saved, as all film fans around the world will find not the least bit surprising. Now, a statement like that wouldn’t bother me from a Scorsese or a Coen brother; but Emmerich is the guy that made White House Down, 10,000 B.C.
Cue attacks from the mothership, aerial battles against insurmountable odds, cities destroyed, a world in chaos, laser beams, explosions, tidal waves, complete destruction and special effects so big they leave you wondering which way to look. The former president Whitmore (Bill Pullman) is convinced that there’s a new breed of extra terrestrials on their way, mounting a far greater invasion than their failed attempt.
The sequel stars Liam Hemsworth, who replaces Will Smith in the original, Bill Pullman, Charlotte Gainsborough and Vivicia A Fox.
Pullman will, however, play a more earthbound politician, Texas Sen.
One plus point: They don’t repeat the silly “virus uploading” angle – “Without the oops”, as Levinson also said back then.
Roland Emmerich has just revealed one of his pet peeves in the Hollywood scene; superheroes movies. “At the time we had no idea how big the film would be”. The same can be said of Angelababy, whose character is painfully underwritten, to no fault of the actress. I mean, it was part of our culture. “We’ve expanded the universe of Independence Day, and I can’t wait for people to experience it”.

The 1996 film racked up just $75 million in production costs – a good investment with revenues of $800 million. “What Goldblum’s character did was turn the ones into zeroes and the zeroes into ones, effectively reversing the code that was sent”.
