Massive crowd packs Cleveland for Cavs’ NBA title parade
LeBron James and the Cavaliers, of course, took home the National Basketball Association title on Sunday.

“You guys are unbelievable”, James told the gathered crowd. More hordes of people met the Cavs when they arrived from California by plane. With crowd-size predictions reaching as high as 800,000, some people started camping out along the parade route Tuesday afternoon. Poised for a repeat as 2017 NBA Champions, here are five reasons that James’ return to the Cavaliers ensures that Cleveland will win back-to-back NBA Championships.
John and Marie Hodge of the West Side of Cleveland brought their 7-year-old son, Michael, to the parade. He was already OH basketball royalty – King James – and he’s now the one who stopped a half-century of sports suffering.
The title drought in Cleveland is over.
Urycki says he spoke to a season-ticket holder from the suburbs who said that driving into town for the parade felt like a “pilgrimage”.
However, James, star guard Kyrie Irving and their teammates, who survived a coaching change midway through the season and finally fulfilled expectations in the postseason, have taken Cleveland back to the top. “It’s very emotional for people”.
More than 10,000 fans met the team at Hopkins International Airport on Monday and hundreds lined the street leading to James’ house near Akron.
The iconic Nike banner of LeBron James in downtown Cleveland just got a makeover, but it won’t be up for much longer. Police were doing all they could to clear East 9th street so the celebration could begin.
How big of a deal is this parade? He did much of the heavy lifting a year ago, but did instill in his Cleveland teammates what exactly it takes to win an NBA Championship.
