Listen to Fall Out Boy’s new Ghostbusters theme

On “Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid)”, Fall Out Boy kick off Ray Parker Jr’s already peppy song with a faster and punchier tempo.

The song is embedded below, and I really don’t like it. Halfway through, Missy Elliott makes a welcome appearance, joining for a verse and staking her claim as the movie’s honorary fifth Ghostbuster.

Check it out for yourself below and let us know what you thought down in the comments. But thanks to frontman Patrick Stump’s distinct vocals, it sounds exactly like something FOB would put out. If you’re that loyal to the original Ghostbusters, or you just don’t like Fall Out Boy, this song probably isn’t going to please you. The film is produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, and written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig, based on the 1984 film “Ghostbusters”, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and directed by Ivan Reitman.

I’m personally super-excited for the new film, but there’s no doubt that, for whatever reason, purists have been getting their feathers ruffled by every new announcement.

Sony has debuted a new “Ghostbusters” theme song that will unlikely do much to ingratiate director Paul Feig’s reboot with fans of the original franchise. This summer, they’re here to save the world!
