Baku reveals details of meeting between Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia

In a one-sentence statement, Sarkisian’s press office said nothing about the goal of the “working visit” and issues on its agenda. “Also, they expressed satisfaction that the ceasefire was now holding”. Azerbaijan claims they include regular Armenian military.

The newly appointed secretary of Sarkisian’s National Security Council, Armen Gevorgian, was in Stepanakert on Tuesday to meet with Sahakian.

Sarkisian and Aliyev held trilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg just over a month after their previous encounter in Vienna that focused on the fallout from the April 2-5 heavy fighting around Karabakh.

She mentioned that a similar format was previously used to discuss sensitive issues: “Therefore we keep in close contact with the representatives of the co-chairing countries, they were informed, study and informing of the co-chairs were held long before the meeting”.

Karabakh broke away from Azerbaijan in 1991 with Armenian military support and a peace process has yet to be implemented. “The statement is about what was discussed during the talks and what agreements were reached”, Zakharova said, noting that any attempt for individual interpretation of the agreement reached at the meeting is inadmissible.

“In light of this, we wish to appeal to the spiritual and moral responsibility bestowed upon the Holy See and to call upon Your Holiness to address in Yerevan the tragedies that have taken place in Nagorno-Karabakh, and to urge Armenian authorities to comply with the conclusions drawn by the global community, in particular the return of all occupied Azerbaijani territories in accordance with United Nations and Council of Europe resolutions”, Suleymanov wrote. Baku must honor its pledges to allow such measures, including global investigations of armed incidents, he said.
