The top Iranian diplomat was speaking at a Tuesday Iftar meal at the residence of the Iranian Ambassador to France Ali Ahani in Paris, where envoys of Islamic councils from 33 countries as well as some French officials were present.
Economy wise, Zarif discussed means of boosting French-Iranian relations and the obstacles – regarding bank transactions and the trade in U.S. dollars -that have been put by the United States as a result of sanctions on several banks.
Notably, Iran and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council – the United States, France, Britain, China and Russian Federation – plus Germany started implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on January 16.
The visit appeared to fuel momentum between Paris and Tehran, kick-started by the nuclear accord and the January visit to Paris of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
At the end of May, by invitation of Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), the Iranian FM Mr. Javad Zarif attended this year’s Oslo Forum, 14 June 2016, to discuss pacemaking in Norway. The official was not authorized to speak publicly and asked not to be named.
They’ve dispatched thousands of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps and even Afghan refugees to fight in the Syrian civil war supporting Bashar-al Assad.
Zarif also reiterated previous statements that the conflicts in the Middle East do not have a military solution and that Iran is ready “for any type of cooperation”.
Zarif is in Paris at the head of a high-ranking delegation on the first leg of a two-nation European tour, which will also take him to the Netherlands.
“We see the plague of terrorism has no borders”, he said, noting the November Paris attacks that killed 130.
France has been a leader in reaching out to a post-sanctions Iran, with a string of business deals announced soon after the global nuclear accord with Iran was implemented in January.
“The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) said: “[Zarif] must be held accountable for the regime’s actions in the field of human rights, terrorism and sending thousands of armed forces to Syria.
