‘Mr. Robot’ Season 2 Gets Additional Episodes, Premiere After-Show

USA Network has upped its Season 2 order of Golden Globe-winning drama series Mr. Robot from 10 episodes to 12 episodes. The show won several awards for its first season, and was nominated for several more. As a result, Season 2 will now be comprised of 12 episodes and all 12 episodes will be directed by the series’ creator and executive producer Sam Esmail. US has added two more episodes to the second season, which kicks off next month, and added a Talking Dead-style aftershow so you can keep the good times going even longer.

Mr. Robot stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cyber-security engineer who becomes involved in the underground hacker group fsociety, after being recruited by their mysterious leader (Christian Slater). The July 13 episodes, titled eps2.0_unm4sk-pt1.tc and eps2.0_unm4sk-pt2.tc, will pick up 30 days after the now infamous fsociety 5/9 hack on multi-national company Evil Corp.

Building upon its success, United States of America announced Thursday the show will be getting an after show in its sophomore season, called Hacking Robot. US has also announced that Season 2 will premiere with two back-to-back episodes, presented with limited commercial interruption on July 13, beginning at 10 p.m., followed by a special live after-show. Aliyah Silverstein is executive producing, but no host has been named yet. That trend continues with shows like Colony and tonight’s Queen of the South, but Mr. Robot remains the flagship series of the new, darker USA.
