Todd Wilcox drops out of Florida Senate race, backs Rubio
As of Friday’s filing deadline, Rubio and businessman Carlos Beruff are the only Senate contestants left in the primary.

Rubio thanked Wilcox, releasing a statement acknowledging his support. A recent Naples transplant, Bongino’s last political attempt was an unsuccessful U.S. Senate bid in Maryland two years ago.
“While Rep. Grayson is busy passing good, progressive legislation, he welcomes the chance to beat basically two do nothing Republicans in Patrick Murphy and No Show Marco this fall”, Grayson campaign manager Mike Ceraso said. According to that survey, Rubio led Democratic Congressman Patrick Murphy by seven points and Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson by eight. “We can not allow either of these liberal Democrats to carry on the disastrous policies of the Obama administration – Floridians deserve better”, Wilcox said.
“The voters of Florida can reelect Washington’s candidate, who has consistently failed to do the job they hired him to do and won’t commit to serving a full six-year term”, Beruff said in a statement.
In the Southwest Florida U.S. congressional race, another outsider has recently announced: former Secret Service agent and author, Dan Bongino.
U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the race and will run for re-election, a decision U.S. Rep. David Jolly made last Friday as it became more obvious that Rubio was leaning toward running again. “I’m not a politician”. I’m a businessman who wants to bring a business mindset to the problems facing our country and our state.
Despite the changes, dozens of state legislators were elected Friday since they did not draw any opponents in their races.
“Do you want a Senator who puts politics and their own ambition first?” “The opinions of the political class in Washington are not relevant to the voters of Florida”. I’ve talked to so many people who genuinely and thoughtfully want to share their ideas about how to make our country the best it can possibly be.

Florida officials closed out the qualifying period at noon, but not before a last-minute scramble that saw some candidates switch races or even drop out.
