CNN hires fired Trump campaign manager

In addition to being fired, Lewandowski is best known for having battery charges filed against him by former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields.

CNN snapped up former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski to work as a political commentator on Thursday, only three days after the political operative was sacked. CNN has used a handful of Trump surrogates in its coverage, most prominently Jeffrey Lord and Kaleigh McEnany.

CNN was the first station to interview Lewandowski after his dismissal from the Trump campaign.

Employees of Trump are required to sign non-disclosure agreements, which prohibits Lewandowski from sharing confidential or disparaging information about the candidate. Maybe … Corey was already kinda sorta trying out for his new CNN gig and wanted to show the network what he’d be like on air as a full-tilt Trump shill?

“I’m a guy who calls balls and strikes, I’m gonna tell it like it is”, said Lewandowski in his debut appearance on Erin Burnett’s “OutFront” Thursday.

“But I can tell you this”, he continued.

Lewandowski also made a point of dodging quite a few tough questions relating to his former boss and allegations of Islamophobia. Not at all, said Lord: “I know him – he is genuinely a fan of Donald Trump’s”.

As part of the deal, Lewandowski will also now be exclusive to CNN.

“I think profiling is something that we’re going to have to start thinking about as a country”, he explained on Face the Nation.

Because Lewandowski’s visibility is just one of a couple of aspects of this hiring that should bother anyone who cares about such quaint notions as journalistic integrity, or does not believe in rewarding bad behavior with new jobs and, for CNN, possibly increased ratings.

The position will be effective immediately and will be salaried.

The hiring of Lewandowski, accordingly, has reduced CNN to this pitiful reality: A true journalist like Burnett is forced to gore an interviewee not to bring accountability to a campaign, but rather to properly warn CNN viewers that everything they’re about to hear is fatally compromised.

This video includes clips from C-SPAN, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, NBC, Jupiter Police Department and Donald J. Trump for President Inc. Based on Lewandowski’s responses to questions about the campaign, it sure seems like the answer is no. But we don’t know for sure. The second quirk is more interesting: Doesn’t Lewandowski have a nondisparagement clause in his contract with Trump?
