Celtics Rumors: Is Chandler Parsons Plan B After Kevin Durant?

The Warriors were expected to be a major player in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, and they wasted no time getting in line to make their pitch to the NBA’s biggest potential offseason catch.

Wojnarowski also has a secondary list of teams who have interest in Durant, saying they could still potentially gain audience with Durant before he makes his decision.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported via Yahoo Sports that these meetings will take place in New York City.

Unfortunately, despite Durant likely coming to NY for the meetings, it doesn’t appear as though the Knicks are in the immediate mix.

The Spurs had the second-best record in the National Basketball Association this past season, reeling off a 67-15 record, but falling to the Thunder in six games during the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. However, the Warriors have Durant’s attention more than other outside suitors.

The Golden State Warriors are wasting no time after losing in the recently concluded National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals and are already eyeing the free agency pool, with Kevin Durant on top of their list.

Durant’s representatives at Roc Nation are working to solidify invitations with the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Thunder, league sources said.

But the Warriors, sources say, increasingly believe their chances of convincing Durant to leave the Thunder after a successful 10-season run were enhanced significantly by the fact that Golden State lost the NBA Finals to Cleveland in seven games despite taking a 3-1 series lead. Nobody is bigger in OKC than Kevin Durant in real life, but they don’t have Steven Adams clones just waiting in other cities.

Recently, Durant revealed that he has no plans yet regarding his impending free agency status.

There are also a bunch of teams are named by Woj as being outsiders looking in on the Durant sweepstakes right now: the Lakes, Knicks, Wizards, Nuggets, and Rockets. This way, Durant can maximize his earnings with the salary cap skyrocketing with each passing summer.

“That’s not who I am”, Durant said.

The good news for Celtics’ fans is that Durant is at least more open to leaving Oklahoma City.

If financial considerations prove to be secondary, though, Durant could evidently be swayed by the allure of chasing championships.
