One victim was found outside Studio 74, and several others were taken to hospitals, Fort Worth police spokesman Daniel Segura said in a statement, according to the Associated Press. She considers it trespassing.

A studio employee, Jason Moore, told AP he was working at the time of the incident and said he used a towel to compress the chest of one of the victims, who later died outside the front door.

Segura says one victim died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.

Mr Moore said several members of the group were carrying guns and he thought he heard shots fired inside as well.

Fort Worth-based soul artist Leon Bridges has danced there, Reyna said.

Moore was reportedly unaware that the group was not supposed to be inside the facility. Blood stains could be seen outside the building, near scattered chairs and garbage – including empty liquor bottles.

There were no immediate details available on a suspect.

Reyna said Studio 74 is a non-profit dance hall, seven years in the making, aimed celebrating hip hop culture, serving as a creative outlet, and teaching young people to dance. He says that there was no professional security at the event but that someone from the group who he believed had rented the space was using a metal detector wand as people entered.

The shooting happened after midnight in the parking lot of Studio 74 on East Lancaster near Beach Street.

“We as a dance family had no involvement with the incident that occurred last night”, they wrote. “We’re praying for the family”.
