Microsoft Corporation’s Console Strategy Could Spell the End for Xbox (MSFT)

Extending the ever-growing list of Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles Microsoft has this week another eight new additions with support being added for seven arcade games and one Games On Demand in the form of Bethesda’s Fallout: New Vegas. Last year, it was backwards compatibility and this time, it was two upcoming Xbox One consoles: Xbox One S, and Project Scorpio. We’re pretty sure that the game developers don’t want to hear about making jailbreak video consoles legal, as they will be the ones who will suffer, as most of the gamers will start downloading video games (cracked) from the internet instead of purchasing them (non-cracked) from the stores.

Now, I hope JRPG games like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, and Tales of Vesperia are next in line! The fact still remains that Project Scorpio is most likely going to be having exclusive games going forward since the console is likely to be coming with some seriously upgraded hardware.

Xbox One prices are falling as fast as the British pounds, apparently.

The sales pitch for its lesser-powered sibling, the Xbox One S, also touts HDR gaming, which the original Xbox One, launched in 2013, does not offer.

It’s not yet clear if all post-Scorpio Xbox One games will be able to run in 4K, or if it will be up to the developers to optimize their games as they see fit.

The kicker is, both consoles were announced at the same conference and they are only releasing about a year apart.

The Sony executive dismissed rumors that with Microsoft elaborating on its Project Scorpio console, the PS4 Neo will be the one to go head to head with it. Apparently, though, fans can still expect a Sony console in the future. We looked at Death Stranding from Hideo Kojima, Sony/ SIE Santa Monica’s God of War, Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man title and a teaser of Batman Arkham VR from Rocksteady Studios.

Ahead of E3, Sony teased it was similarly working on a more powerful PlayStation 4, which it has sold 40 million units of since the console debuted in 2013. We’re responding to them.
