Switzerland forward Breel Embolo makes $28M move to Schalke
Schalke have signed Switzerland striker Breel Embolo from Basel after the teenager’s impressive show at Euro 2016. Schalke’s new arrival scored one goal in 14 global outings since his senior debut in March 2015.

The 19-year-old is one of Europe’s most promising youngsters, and joins the Bundesliga side for a reported transfer fee of €25 million from FC Basel.
You would forgive Breel Emobolo for hiding away and sulking after Switzerland were knocked out of Euro 2016 on penalties. The footballer has agreed a five-year deal at the club until June 30, 2021.
Breel Embolo has signed for Schalke. Boo.
A quick, skillful and powerfully built young prospect who admittedly struggled to impress in a predominantly supporting role at the European Championships, Embolo had previously been strongly linked with a move to Bundesliga newcomers RB Leipzig.
“In Breel Embolo, we have been able to bring in a highly talented attacker, Schalke Sporting director Christian Heidel said”.
Embolo is the second addition to Schalke’s squad for next season after they signed Brazilian centre back Naldo from Wolfsburg in May. However, it is Schalke who have won the race for his signature.

Schalke revealed Embolo’s signing to thousands of fans at their annual members’ meeting, with a video message suggesting they beat interest from clubs including Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal.
