Coastal Carolina Baseball is heading to the College World Series Finals after a win Saturday evening against the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs. Texas Tech’s season is over. “We just pick each other up”.

Coastal Carolina continues to find ways to win, and should they do so two more times, expect the dog pile to be extra special for Gilmore and Co. Holmes worked the final 2.2 innings with three hits, one run and one punchout. Freshman Jared Janczak was touched up for three runs and five hits in three innings Saturday, but held a 2.37 ERA in 26 previous appearances this year in the rugged Big 12.

“If you had told me we would be where we’re at right now four months ago, two months ago, maybe three weeks ago, I’m not sure I would have laid a whole lot of money on it by any means”, coach Gary Gilmore said.

“We’re never out of a ballgame”, TCU’s Evan Skoug said.

“I just felt like I had all my pitches”.

Coastal Carolina has won 17 of its last 19 games and has 51 wins, second most in the country behind Florida’s 52. “They came back and really competed today, and we’re very fortunate to come out on top”. Coastal Carolina wields too many potent bats to stay stagnant, so look for a well-timed rebound to cement a championship bid. Erikson Lanning (3-4) took the loss.

Tyler Chadwick, 2B, Coastal Carolina – Chadwick combined with Parrett to account for half of the Chanticleers’ hits from the Nos.

Traver was impressive in his 61/3 innings though he was charged with all four runs, three earned. That turned the lineup over, bringing Red Raider right fielder Stephen Smith to the plate.

Texas Tech would load the bases in the bottom of the inning, but the closer Mike Morrison, (yes, the closer in the third inning) would end the inning with consecutive Ks. The big blow was a two-run double from Connor Owings.

The Red Raiders totaled nine hits off the Coastal pitching staff as all nine starters reached base via either a base knock or one of nine walks issued by the Chanticleers.

Gardner got a two out single and moved to second on a walk by Cory Raley.
