Brian McCann and Chris Young homered in a nine-run seventh inning as the first-place Yankees worked their rivals over with brutal efficiency.

Over the last 10 games, the New York Yankees have produced 90 runs.

The entire week leading up to this year’s Major League Baseball trade deadline delivered some blockbuster moves, SI takes a quick look back at the 3 biggest headlines.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Owens, the Red Sox have released reliever Ronald Belisario, whom they acquired last month from Tampa Bay.

Things were going OK for the Boston Red Sox in their series opener Tuesday night against the New York Yankees.

– Oh, bullpen. First Robbie Ross gave away Owens’ win by allowing two inherited runners to score in just three pitches.

A Mark Teixeira single made it 1-0 before Owens even knew what had happened.

“I thought what was impressive is that he seemed to keep the emotion of moment under control”.

“First time out it was a solid performance by him”, said Boston manager John Farrell, who told Owens before the game to pitch the same way he had pitched with Triple-A Pawtucket.

“I guess I’m always surprised”, Wilson said when he’s pulled from games.

“We’ve got a lot of good players who are hot at the same time”, Chase Headley (2-for-5) said. After yet another ground ball found its way through for a leadoff hit in the single, Owens proceeded to retire the next 12 straight batters he faced. So Owens handled himself pretty impressively. “But they’re into the third time in the order, didn’t want to over expose him”. Our sixth-inning guy; people have stepped up and done a really good job.

Owens was charged with two of the runs and the Yankees had a 4-2 lead.

The Yankees sent 13 batters to the plate in the seventh, which began with first baseman Mike Napoli unable to scoop a low throw from Xander Bogaerts, the shortstop charged with a throwing error.

McCann hit his 18th homer and drove in four runs.

The Red Sox fell on Farrell’s 53rd birthday and have lost 14 of 19.
