According to the RCMP, Vulcan RCMP responded to McGregor Lake, located about 20 Km east of Vulcan at about 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 2 after receiving reports of a boat found adrift on the lake.

The search was eventually called off by RCMP who said they had combed the entire area without success.

Witnesses reported seeing the couple head out on the lake south of Calgary in a small motor boat earlier in the day.

Police say they are looking for more clues before resuming the search.

Bernice Stertz, Wayne’s grandmother, said Tuesday the family believes he is dead and is still grappling with the loss.

Reached by phone in Cranbrook, Lindenbach’s uncle said her family is rallying together during this hard time.

Lindenbach was a personal trainer and fitness model originally from Golden, B.C., but had since moved to Calgary. “They were going to go on top of a mountain with just a photographer and a minister and get married and do photos up there and then come down and just do a back yard party with all of her closest friends”, said Wiebe.

Lindenbach had seen her share of struggles. “She’s an absolute attractive soul”, said Annette Milbers.
