Bharti Veerath, who shot to fame becoming one of first women cab driver of Bengaluru, was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

In what is probably a case of suicide, Bharathi Veerath was found hanging from her apartment in Bengaluru yesterday. Police said they were investigating the cause of her death. Before coming into this profession she used to work as a tailor but since she couldn’t make much money from it, she went to an NGO and became a driver. “She was an inspiration to many driver partners and riders”, said Uber in a statement.
The landlord had told the police that she had once informed that she wanted to return to her home town in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh.
Ms Veerath, who moved to Bengaluru from Andhra Pradesh ten years ago according to local media, lived alone.
“Around 7:15pm, her neighbours informed me that she has hanged herself”.
“As per our records, Bharathi was one of the early women taxi drivers in the city and joined the all-women cab service, Angel City Cabs two years ago and later registered her vehicle with aggregator Uber, the online personal transportation firm”, Prakash added.
“The body has been sent for post-mortem”, T.R. Suresh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, told the News Minute. And now Veerath Bharathi is in news again but because of her mysterious death. “Our thoughts are with her family”, said Uber spokesperson. She had a tailoring job for a while before she moved on to working with a travel agency.

The high school dropout had dreamt big-after moving to Bengaluru at age 28, she had steadily worked her way up.
