Presumably, the dogs were not tied up, and they must have entered the home, because when she returned, she discovered a horrific scene.
A three-day-old baby girl has been mauled to death by a pair of cross breed pit bulls after her mother opened the door of her Frenso home thinking the dogs were safely locked up.
Despite being rushed to hospital, the baby died shortly after Monday’s attack.
A California mother set her newborn down for just a few moments early Monday when the attack happened.
“At this point, we believe it was an unfortunate accident”, Macias told the Bee.
The mother later acknowledged one of the two dogs being aggressive.
Family members identified the baby to KGPE-TV as Susie Kirby.
Fresno police are continuing to investigate the incident, but no charges have been pressed.
“For any child to get injured, it hurts”, Daniel Macias with the Fresno Police Department told KFSN.

The dog’s owner reportedly surrendered them to the Central California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, where they were due to be euthanized.
