One of the issues is with the Fuel Emissions Control Unit (Canister) on models manufactured within the period between April 2006 and August 2015. The fuel tank could crack and cause leaks when it’s full.

The Japanese vehicle maker said the recall would affect Prius models from 2010 to 2012 and Lexus CT models from 2011 and 2012. Overall, the total numbers of air bag-related recalls is more than 100 million worldwide.

Toyota and other carmakers have over the past years been affected by problems with faulty airbags supplied by Japanese airbag supplier Takata.

Before it’s here, it’s on the Bloomberg Terminal.

Auto safety gear maker Autoliv confirms Toyota is recalling 1.4 million Prius cars equipped with its airbag inflators.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time.

Customers can check whether their vehicle is affected using a registration look-up function in the owners’ section of the main Toyota and Lexus websites, and a recall helpline has been set up.

The reason for the recall is due to a faulty airbag inflator, as there could be a small crack on the weld, which in time could widen and could then fail.

The second issue applies to the Curtain Shield Airbag on certain Prius and Lexus CT 200h models.

This is turn might cause the airbags to not inflate properly, or in some cases even allow the chambers to enter the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. This can increase chances of an injury when the vehicle is occupied. The retention brackets are created to prevent the inflator chambers from entering the vehicle interior if separation occurs.
