Andrew Luck signs 5-year contract extension with Colts
Colts Owner Jim Irsay tweeted Wednesday afternoon that “Andrew has signed through 2021”. Irsay beat the deadline and didn’t back down from that statement – in fact, he was the one who got to break the news on Twitter. He was set to make $16.2 million this season under terms of the fifth-year option, but the new contract is technically a six-year deal that supersedes that option. Luck’s contract, for which details have not yet been released, will likely jump him into the top level of the quarterbacks, where Joe Flacco now sits at number one with $22.13 million per year. “I can’t wait for this season to start”.

The Colts signed quarterback Andrew Luck to a record-setting contract extension. He’s coming off an injury-shortened year in 2015 that saw him complete 55% of his passes for 1,881 yards and 15 touchdowns, with 12 interceptions, in seven games. In fact, no quarterback in league history threw for as many yards during the first three years of a career. He was bad when healthy and then missed nine games due to injuries.

Luck was paid a $3.4 million base salary last year, the final year of that deal. “Andrew is the consummate professional, possesses extraordinary talent and is our leader on and off the field”.
