Looks Like No One Will Replace Chris Evans on Top Gear

In other words, it obviously took more than one season for the 2002 reboot of Top Gear to really find its niche and become the show that we’ve all been enchanted by over the past decade and beyond.

The BBC has confirmed Chris Evans’ exit from its car-themed docu-series “Top Gear” after one season.

It’s official, Chris Evans has stepped down as host of “Top Gear”.

Evans joined the global hit last June after the departure of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. “They had all the resources there, the amusing thing is the shows subsequent to that have been so much better, but it was that first one”. No, we were talking about the Chris Evans across the pond-the Chris Evans of The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, a BBC Radio 2 program, i.e., the Chris Evans with red hair and glasses.

The first show with the new line-up was launched with 4.4 million viewers back in May but the revamped programme received lukewarm reviews from critics and viewers on social media, and the numbers soon dwindled to 1.4 million.

The Top Gear presenter – who sensationally announced he was quitting the show on Twitter today – is facing investigation over an incident, alleged to have happened in the 1990s. Instead, the remaining team at Top Gear will fill in his spot as they resume filming in September. I remain a huge fan of the show, always have been, always will be.

“The new series has so far notched up over 30m views in the United Kingdom alone and has already been sold to 130 territories worldwide”.

The six-episode series was beset by unfavourable reviews, crashing ratings and reports of a breakdown in the relationship between the two lead hosts.

Perry McCarthy, the original Stig, said Evans had “just not gelled with the audience”.
