Crackdown 3 launching in 2016, with multiplayer beta scheduled for next summer

Today at Gamescom, Microsoft Game Studios offered a first look at Cracktown 3.

We saw an agent hopping from rooftop to rooftop collecting agility orbs, and a brief demonstration of one of the transforming vehicles made available by the Agency. Xbox head Phil Spencer also mentioned that a cloud-powered demo was an early prototype for the project.

The blog continues: “Crackdown 3 will also deliver a groundbreaking competitive multiplayer mode, where everything is physical thanks to the Microsoft Cloud”. The new footage is a welcomed update after the game’s E3 2015 absence, and doubles down on the multiplayer aspect of its open world.

Crackdown 3 is set to arrive only on the Xbox One at some point in 2016.

The Marketgait company chief operating officer is video game legend Dave Jones, who helped create Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto as well as the Crackdown series.

There’s a brand new city not seen in the previous Crackdown games and a Shadow of Mordor style criminal hierarchy that players must disrupt.
