Apple rolls out animated emojis for iOS 10 beta users

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, introduces the new iOS software at an Apple event at the Worldwide Developer’s Conference on June 13, 2016 in San Francisco, California. According to Apple’s website, pre-made movies are also available using videos and photos in the gallery. Along with new packs of emoji, the new operating system will allow developers to create animated smileys for the iMessenger app thanks to Messages API. Apple has released four sticker packs that iOS 10 beta testers can now try out.

The four sets come with simple names, specifically Classic Mac, Smileys, Hearts and Hands. “Also worth noting is these stickers can also be used on the upcoming macOS Sierra operating system for Macs”, noted in the iDownloadBlog.

Apart from Invisible Ink, Apple has also announced that emojis in the new mobile operating system would be three times larger than their current size.

iOS 10 will launch later this year alongside the latest iPhone. The emoji sticker packs are expected to join original creations from third-party developers when the iMessage App Store debuts this fall. In terms of Messages, Apple had said that users will see rich link previews that includes artwork coming from the website. Apple went big with emojis as well.

Last month, at its World Wide Developer’s Conference, Apple has announced the third-party integration along with a host of new messaging features, including a built-in reaction GIF search, a drawing pad and emoji suggestions.

According to a report in Mashable by Patrick Kulp, “Apple recently revealed that its upcoming iOS 10 update holds some good news for emoji lovers: The iPhone’s pictograph palette will soon be more extensive than ever”. The Hearts set contains only 10 emojis and shows different kinds of hearts with different animations. It seems Apple is moving its text messaging app into the territory of Snapchat and Facebook messenger, adding not only stickers and animated emoji, but text bubble effects, handwriting, and an API for developers.

The new version of iMessage makes it easy to share stickers in conversations, even giving users the option to stick them on individual messages.
