Kevin Durant eliminates Celtics as option, leaving just Thunder, Warriors

Kevin Durant published his decision yesterday morning on The Players’ Tribune website. Pat Riley and the Heat will meet with him on Sunday before the Thunder get one last crack to seduce their hometown hero. They’re still considered dark-horses, as nearly everyone you talk to inside league circles still expects Durant to return to the Oklahoma City Thunder for at least one more season.

An under-the-radar factor in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes could be former Celtics center Kendrick Perkins.

The Denver Nuggets, armed with some $28 million in salary-cap space, continue to pursue Dwyane Wade, sources told ESPN’s Marc Stein.

No one but Durant truly knows what he’s thinking, of course, which means it’s armchair psychology time all around. They still fell short in their pursuit of Durant.

Clippers: The team appears to have taken itself out of the running for Durant by retaining Austin Rivers with a three-year, $35 million deal.

The Warriors make sense because they just won 73 games and were within four points of a second straight title.

Many have criticized the Brady move on Twitter as being desperate, but if the Celtics are selling Boston the city to Durant, what better ambassador to have along with you?

A basketball executive bringing his own players to help make the team’s case is not out of the ordinary.

Not counting Jerebko and Johnson, and including rookies Jaylen Brown and Ante Zizic (Guerschon Yabusele is expected to be stashed) the Celtics have 13 players under contract. Also, Curry is a free agent after next season.

Lee has played for six teams during his eight-year career, most recently the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 9.6 points on 45.0 percent shooting as well as 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and a steal over 600 games.

Hey, Kevin Durant decided he wanted the fireworks to start early on 4th of July but not before America’s Independence Day. I think, and I also think it’s a community thing, too, because of the support that our fans and the environment our fans create for a lot of our players to thrive and grow and understand the development process.
