A cow trampled to death an eight-year-old boy at his father’s home in Georgetown early Saturday afternoon, officials say.

“I started crying”, she said.
The boy, identified as George Carter, was injured when trampled by a cow and was taken to Anna Jacques Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
George Carter accompanied his father, Peter Carter, in taking several of 20 cows out for exercise at his father’s Jewett Street home.
Father and son were exercising the cows in preparation for a fair, where the family planned to display the animals, Kimball-Monahan said. “She came flying by me with him tangled up in the rope and by the time I caught up with him, he was gone”, Carter said.

Carter owns 24 cows that he raises for beef. “I think everyone will probably squeeze their kids a little tighter tonight because you never know when something could happen”, McPherson said. His family says anyone who knew him loved him dearly. Massachusetts State Police detectives, assigned to Blodgett’s office are investigating, but “foul play is not suspected”.
