It is understood that Smalling jetted out on holiday less than 72 hours after England’s humiliating 2-1 defeat to Iceland at the 2016 European Championships in France. “He was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine”. The Portuguese is known to focus on defence as his base for winning titles but with one of United’s key centre-halves seemingly out of action for some time now it could already hamper his pre-season plans.
