More than 5,300 bottles of alcohol were seized by the investigators in the southern city of Liuzhou.

Sildenafil is more commonly known as Viagra.
Police are investigating the two distillers, who ran the Guikun and Deshun Alcohol Plants in Liuzhou.
In June, state media said Chinese customs have seized around 3 billion yuan ($483 million) worth of smuggled meat, some more than 40 years old and rotting, the latest in a grim series of food safety scares.

The Liuzhou Food and Drug Administration said that the substance had been added to three different types of baijiu. Alcohol producers in China frequently market their products as containing ground-up animal parts that purportedly enhance male virility; unlike endangered wildlife products like rhinoceros horn, Viagra actually treats erectile dysfunction, but also comes with significant health risks. Even more concerning is that people taking these powerful drugs without their knowledge because people with heart conditions, blood disorders and other medical conditions may not be good candidates to take anti-impotence drugs. Beijing tightened food safety rules and pledged a crackdown on food smuggling.
