The Williams sisters could be headed for another meeting in a Grand Slam final.

Top-ranked Serena will face No. 21-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Centre Court in one of the day’s four women’s quarterfinals. “I can’t lie about that”.

Raonic had not lost a service game through his first three matches in the tournament, but Goffin broke him three times on the way to grabbing the opening two sets. If you’re Serena Williams, I guess that happens a lot.

On court Monday in women’s fourth-round matches: No. 1 Serena Williams vs.

She also saved match points against Cibulkova – one in the second set – and wasted a match point in the third.

“Retiring is the easy way out”, she said.

Williams last won the title at the All England Club in 2008. “But, if I’m not there, I desperately want her to win”.

Six-time champion Serena and five-time victor Venus will be playing on Tuesday for spots in the semifinals.

For Berdych, it will be his third consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal.

“What a day it was against an opponent who was just on fire”, Williams said.

Elsewhere, with a whole host of other matches to be played having already started, we’ll switch our attention to one that has yet to get underway. “I was most likely kicking butt six years ago, if I was in the semis or the finals”. She will go into the semifinals with a 4-0 record against Vesnina.

The defending champion dominated down the stretch once the Centre Court roof was closed and eliminated two-time major title victor Svetlana Kuznetsova 7-5, 6-0 on Monday. Her loss to Vesnina means Cibulkova can proceed with her wedding on Saturday – she had planned to postpone the ceremony had she won on Tuesday.

Berdych, the country’s top player who contributed to the 2012 and 2013 Davis Cup titles, reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon on Tuesday by beating fellow Czech Jiri Vesely 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8), 6-7 (9), 6-3.
