JK Rowling has already written a sequel to Fantastic Beasts
Also, Rowling confirmed that “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will have a part two, leading many to believe that the upcoming film will actually be a trilogy.

This is because she is the screenwriter of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. This film has serious star pedigree and a very good franchise legacy, but maybe it’s the fact that this Harry Potter spinoff/prequel doesn’t actually feature any Harry Potter (it’s set in America before he was born) that could be putting fans off. Maybe people just don’t know what to expect?
Yates directed four of the Harry Potter films including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Part 2 (2011).
“They didn’t quite work within the structure of the storytelling for the movie or the movie would just be far too long”.
After years of working on the Harry Potter books, it would seem that J.K. Rowling is chomping at the bit to get her teeth into something else. While Fantastic Beasts exists as a book, it only exists as a textbook used at Hogwarts within the Harry Potter universe. “With this, it’s just pure Jo [Rowling] from the first page to the last page”, he said.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a prequel to the Harry Potter stories, taking place in 1920’s America.

He said: “It deals with themes that resonate with us now in our current world which is what I love about Jo, she’s not afraid to explore quite interesting themes that mean something to us in this magical universe and that’ll be evident in the first and second films”. The sequel is expected in November 2017, and the third in the trilogy in November 2018.
