A new Intelligence Division within NATO Headquarters will help to make the “right decisions at the right time” and will counter modern challenges including meeting “hybrid and terrorist threats”, Stoltenberg said.

Four multinational battalions are to be deployed in Poland and the Baltic states.
Mr Stoltenberg also said thatm after years of decline, defence spending by European Nato members and Canada is expected to rise this year by 3%, or 8 billion U.S. dollars (£6 billion). “This amounts to $US8 billion”, Stoltenberg said, specifying that 22 allies will increase military expenditure in real terms.
The Readiness Action Plan, agreed at the 2014 Wales summit, included a pledge to spend two percent of annual economic output on defence, ending years of cuts.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Monday he would like to hold a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council “shortly after” the alliance’s summit Friday and Saturday that will be attended by heads of state and government of the NATO’s 28 member-states.
“We will approve a comprehensive package of assistance that will include various dimensions of such assistance, particularly in strategic advisory support of the various trust funds, administration, logistics, cybersecurity”, said the NATO Secretary General.
Stoltenberg said NATO is talking with Russia to hold another meeting of the NATO-Russia Council shortly after the Warsaw Summit.
“This is a great contribution to our common security”, Mr Stoltenberg said. “In the context of the ongoing creation of the US/NATO missile defense system in Europe, the antimissile problems will also be definitely discussed”. North Atlantic Treaty Organisation continues to be “a responsible, transparent and predictable actor” and remains “open to dialogue with Russia”, Stoltenberg said.

The last NATO-Russia Council meeting, which was held in April, ended in what Stoltenberg then called “profound and persistent disagreements”.
